CHILDREN'S SPACES

Posted: 28th October 2013

Here are a selection of gorgeous and creative designs specifically for children's play - at the moment at least!

The difficulty is wanting to keep the spontaneity and creativity of Play, without older people thinking it is childish - although some think even picking up a pencil and paper is!

There is something quite magical still though of these ideas and spaces. The pretend and make-believe is useful for anyone to consider things from a different perspective.

Adventure Playhouse - Wig Wam

£489

Love the colours and detail of the windows. Shame there aren't any pics of inside though.

Pony Child's Play Tepee

£110

The colours are lovely and bright. A nice use of the simple tent structure.

Another tepee from Strawberry Hills:

They do a fanstatic Circus Tent as well:

Children's Tents

£26.99

Using bendable glass fibre support rodes - it just twists to fold down.

Playhut Play House

Again, a bendable fabric structure that uses it's own force to close and open up.

This one from the USA has furniture even!

Cardboard Play Houses

The details and lines add texture to this structure.

There is also Paperpod that do lots of lovely cardboard things!

More Cardboard Play Spaces

Designed by Liya Mairson.
I've just found this - this is exactly the sort of thing I was thinking of - a pop-up book inspired space!

Liya Mairson has done some other lovely stuff too, but I do really like how this flat object can create so many different spaces that are interactive and changable every play time.

Each of the folds/pages(?) can be moved around like a screen and then with simple flaps and supports the space becomes 3D.
